TL;DR: There is no fixed lifespan for a bought Business Manager, and any seller quoting one is guessing. What it started as matters less than how it is used in the first month.
In our experience the accounts that fail early fail for the same handful of reasons, and most of them are avoidable.
This is the question buyers ask most, usually phrased as “how long will it last”.
The honest answer is that nobody can tell you, including us, and the reason is worth understanding rather than skipping past.
Why No Honest Seller Can Give You a Number
A Business Manager is not a product with a shelf life. It is an account inside a system that keeps assessing it.
Meta evaluates it continuously against what you advertise, how you pay, who you add, and how fast you change things.
That means the seller controls the starting condition and nothing after that. Once the asset changes hands, the variable that decides its life is you.
So when someone advertises a fixed lifespan, six months or a year, they are either not telling you the truth or they do not understand the system they are selling into.
What Actually Decides How Long It Lasts
Across the accounts we handle, the same factors come up again and again.
What you advertise
This is the single largest factor and it is not close.
A compliant ecommerce offer on a clean domain behaves very differently from an aggressive affiliate funnel, on the same Business Manager, bought the same day.
How fast you ramp
A new owner who attaches payment, creates three ad accounts and launches at full budget on day one is running the highest-risk version of this.
The same portfolio warmed over two weeks usually settles instead of flagging.
Payment consistency
Failed charges, repeatedly swapped cards, and payment details that do not match the business on file all register.
Stability here buys more goodwill than most advertisers realise.
What you connect to it
Assets carry history. Attaching a Page or pixel that already has a record pulls that record into your portfolio.
A clean Business Manager connected to a flagged asset is no longer a clean environment.
What it was before you bought it
This is the part the seller controls, and it sets the floor rather than the ceiling.
A business-verified portfolio with real history starts from a better position than one created last week. It still has to be used sensibly afterwards.
What We Actually See
We will not publish a lifespan figure, because the number would be meaningless without knowing what the buyer did with it.
What we can describe is the shape of the pattern.
| Period | What tends to happen |
|---|---|
| First 72 hours | The riskiest window. Most early failures happen here, almost always from doing too much too fast |
| First two weeks | Settling. Spend climbs gradually, limits start responding, the portfolio establishes a pattern |
| After the first month | Lifespan stops being about the purchase and starts being about the operation |
That last row is the real answer. After roughly a month, whether you bought it or built it matters far less than how you run it.
Accounts we see still running a year later are almost never the ones that were handled carefully at purchase and carelessly afterwards.
The First 72 Hours Matter Most

If there is one section to act on, it is this one.
- Log in and change nothing. Confirm access, look around, close the tab.
- Wait before attaching payment. A new payment method on a freshly transferred portfolio is a visible event.
- Add assets one at a time, with gaps between them, rather than in one session.
- Start spend low and raise it gradually rather than opening at your target budget.
- Leave permissions alone until the portfolio has settled.
None of this is clever. It is just slower than most people want to be on the day they buy something.

What Buying a Stronger Tier Does and Does Not Buy

Paying more for a verified portfolio buys you a better starting position. It does not buy immunity.
What it genuinely changes is tolerance. A verified Business Manager with established history tends to absorb the normal friction of advertising with fewer interruptions than a new one.
What it does not change is the ceiling on bad practice. A verified portfolio running prohibited content will not outlast an unverified one running the same thing.
We go further into this in why verified Business Managers still get restricted.
Plan for It Ending
The advertisers who run longest are not the ones with the luckiest accounts. They are the ones who assumed from the start that any single portfolio can stop.
That changes practical decisions. It means not putting every client inside one Business Manager, keeping a second one warm before you need it, and knowing where your Pages and pixels would go.
Our guide on how many Business Managers a business should have works through that structure.
If you are buying with longevity in mind, a business-verified Business Manager is the tier most people in that position choose, and the full Business Manager range covers lighter options for testing.
FAQ: How Long a Bought Business Manager Lasts
How long does a bought Business Manager last?
There is no fixed answer, because Meta keeps assessing the account based on how it is used after purchase.
What it was at handover sets the starting position. What happens in the first month decides most of the rest.
Why will no seller guarantee a lifespan?
Because the seller controls nothing after transfer. Your creative, your ramp speed, your payment behavior and your connected assets all decide the outcome.
A seller promising six months is promising something they cannot influence.
When is the risk highest?
The first 72 hours after transfer. Most early failures we see happen in that window, from attaching payment, adding assets and launching campaigns all on the same day.
Slowing down through that period costs you two days and avoids the most common failure mode.
Does a verified Business Manager last longer?
It tends to start from a stronger position and absorb normal friction with fewer interruptions.
It is not immune. Verification does not offset prohibited content or an aggressive ramp.
Can a restricted Business Manager be recovered?
Sometimes, depending on the reason and whether a review option is still available.
Our Business Manager appeal service covers the cases we take, and the limits on what any appeal can do.
Does connecting an old Page shorten its life?
It can. Assets carry their own history, and attaching one with a record brings that record into the portfolio.
Check what you are connecting before you connect it, not after.
Should I buy a backup Business Manager?
If client spend depends on one portfolio staying live, yes. A second one warmed in advance costs far less than stopped campaigns.
Buying one mid-restriction means starting cold at the worst possible moment.
Treat the purchase as the start of the work rather than the end of it. The portfolio you buy sets your floor, and the first month sets almost everything else.
